Former Juventus and Barcelona defender Gianluca Zambrotta thinks that Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is still as good as Luis Suarez and Neymar, according to reports.

The Manchester Evening News is reporting that World Cup winning former Italy international Gianluca Zambrotta believes that, despite being 34 years old, Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is still one of the best players in the world.

“He compares with the best players at the moment like Suarez and Neymar.” Zambrotta said.

Zambrotta played with Ibrahimovic at Juventus and AC Milan, and believes the veteran Swede still has plenty to offer at the highest level.

And so far, he has been proved right, with Ibrahimovic enjoying a flying start to life at Old Trafford, as the former Paris Saint Germain striker has scored four goals from his first four appearances with the Red Devils.

Ibrahimovic moved to Old Trafford on a free transfer this summer, after a season in which he netted 50 goals to help PSG to a domestic treble.

United will host rivals Manchester City in the first Manchester derby of the season on Saturday (10 September) and Ibrahimovic will be hoping to make an impact, especially Pep Guardiola will be the opposing manager.

Guardiola and Ibrahimovic did not see eye to eye during the Swede’s one-year stay at the Camp Nou, and the former Inter Milan and Ajax striker labelled the Catalan coach a “spineless coward” in his autobiography.
