ISIS Leaks Data of "To-Be-Killed" US Officials

The ISIS hacking division retaliated against Anonymous by leaking the personal details of a few hundred people working for various US military and law enforcement agencies.

The data was leaked last Saturday, just hours after Anonymous had taken down the main ISIS operations forum, reports Vocativ.

The hackers, known as the ISIS Islamic State Cyber Army, or the ISIS Hacking Division, or the Cyber Caliphate, had previously leaked similar information last August, tweeting out a list containing personal information about 1,400 US military servicemen.

Two men were behind that incident. The actual hacker was Ardit Ferizi, a Kosovo citizen, who was arrested in mid-October in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The second was Junaid Hussain, leader of the Islamic State Hacking Division, the man who leaked the data on Twitter and then asked "lone wolves" to hunt down and kill the US military personnel. He was later killed at the end of August in a drone strike.

The leak doesn't appear to be as effective as the one from August

Now, ISIS has apparently released a new list with data about employees of the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency, the FBI, the CIA, the National Counterterrorism Center, the National Guard and others.

The links were shared on a Twitter account (now suspended) and contained names, addresses, and pictures of US military personnel. Most of them served in bases located in Afghanistan, Iraq, Kuwait, and Qatar.

Vocativ reporters analyzed some of the names and said that a part of them had previously been released online in Hussain's campaign, but some were new.
