The Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG, in charge of Zone 12, Tunde Ogunsakin, on Monday, called on Nigerians not to relent the fight against insurgency, stressing that the insurgents remain deadly despite been on the run.

While speaking in Maiduguri when he paid the Borno State Police Command a courtesy visit, Ogunshakin observed that Boko Haram would soon be a thing of the past but urged Nigerians not to relent but to stand above the new threat posed by the group.

He noted that the terrorists were more dangerous than before as this could be seen in the numerous explosions that recently occurred in mosques across the North-East region of the country.

The AIG further stated that with the combined efforts of security agencies, insurgency would soon be flushed out of the country, stressing that the December deadline set by President Muhammadu Buhari is feasible.

He said ?just like wounded lions, the insurgents are deadlier and more dangerous than in the past,? but ?this is a battle that our gallant police officers are ready for and definitely are winning.?

Ogunsakin warned officers of the Borno State Police Command that he would not tolerate any act that would disrupt the peace and order in any of the states under his control.

?We must overwhelm any person or group that will rise to disrupt public peace.
