Samsung Phone Explodes, Company Blame user
« on: April 09, 2018, 12:18:01 AM »

A Samsung J7 smartphone exploded in late 2017 while charging in the middle of the night, and after a thorough investigation, the company says that it found nothing wrong with the device or the charger.

Instead, it believes “excessive external force” was what caused the incident, pretty much throwing the blame on the 14-year-old girl that used the phone.

Needless to say, the girl’s mom, Janice Shirley, doesn’t agree with the South Korean firm, and says that what Samsung does right now is try to put the blame on someone else.

The mother insisted that the phone wasn’t damaged in any way and was purchased only a few months before the incident.

“Like that's all we have to do is run around and mess with phones and make them catch on fire?” Shirley was quoted as saying. “No. We're better people than that. My child is a better person than that.”

Samsung says the phone didn’t malfunction
On the other hand, Samsung says that it contacted the family “and resolved the matter to their satisfaction,” though by the looks of things, the mother isn’t by any means pleased with how the whole thing was handled.

“After retrieving the Shirley family's phone, Samsung conducted a thorough analysis of the device and found no evidence of a defect that caused the device to malfunction. In addition, our analysis found no evidence that the incident was caused by charging the device. We cannot speculate on the circumstances surrounding the external force that was involved in this incident,” Samsung explained.

“Based on our investigation, including testing of the device, we have concluded that the device did no malfunction. Our analysis shows that an excessive external force caused damage to the device.”

Samsung was forced to recall the entire Galaxy Note 7 series back in 2016 after discovering that the phones came with faulty batteries causing an increased risk of overheating and possibly leading to a fire. No recall, however, targeted the Samsung J7.
