After releasing the new iOS, macOS, tvOS, and watchOS software updates, Apple released today a new version of its cross-platform iTunes music player to add support for the HomePod.
iTunes 12.7.3 is now available for macOS and Windows systems, and it looks like it's been designed by Apple to work with the company's upcoming smart speaker and intelligent assistant, the HomePod.
After some delay caused by production issues, the Cupertino-based company announced today plans to release the HomePod early next month on February 9, with pre-orders kicking off this Friday.
The new iTunes version released today for supported macOS machines and Windows PCs comes with an improved AirPlay menu that'll make it easier for HomePod owners to control music playback.
However, as Apple noted it the HomePod announcement earlier, you will need to have an active Apple Music subscription to able to play your favorite songs with the HomePod and iTunes.
"iTunes is now designed to work with HomePod. Use the improved AirPlay menu to easily choose HomePod and control what plays next with your Apple Music subscription," said Apple in the release notes.
