Flying Eagles cry out over unpaid bonuses

Players of the national U-20 team that failed to qualify for next year Africa Youth Championship have cried out over unpaid bonuses due to them.

The team which consists mostly of players from the victorious U-17 team of 2015, were stopped in their tracks by Sudan on a 4-3 aggregate score after losing 3-2 at home in the final leg of qualifiers. However, players of the team informed that they were promised they would be paid their entitlements after the game against Sudan, but since their ouster they have not been contacted. “We had a meeting with the NFF, a day to our final qualifiers against Sudan after we threatened not to honour the game.

At the meeting we were told all our match and camping allowances will be settled after the game. “After the game, which we lost, there have been no communication from the NFF, even though we believe they have received the money from the ministry of sports. The case of the Falcons is just like ours, we were not paid camp allowances, we didn’t get travelling allowances, for the three games we picked up points, we didn’t get our bonuses, how is our case different”? asked a player of the team in a message sent to Owngoalnigeria.com
