After hitting the 1 billion downloads mark in Google's Play Store and introducing Stories feature, that's really similar to what Snapchat offers, Instagram will now suggest stories to users based on their preferences.
According to TechCrunch, Instagram will start suggesting stories for users to read, based on their preferences. The app will start showing users a bar with Stories, right on top of the Explore tab. The stories will be gathered from accounts that users follow and it seems that the new feature has already started rolling out to users.

The recommendations will be based on the people that users follow, as well as the topics that they're interested in. The report mentions that Instagram's Explore section is accessed by 100 million people per day, which means one fifth of Instagram's 500 million monthly users.

With this new feature, Instagram aims at keeping users inside the application and even helping them find new users to follow. Explore section allows users to find new accounts to follow and check out the content that they've shared on Instagram. The feature is offered by many other social networks, including Snapchat.

Recently, Instagram introduced New Events channel in its application for showing videos from events taken place all around the world. The new feature also comes with the option for users to personalize their experience and watch only the videos that interest them.
