Manchester United to seal Pogba deal in next 48 hours

Manchester United are hopeful of completing a world record deal to sign Paul Pogba from Juventus within the next 48 hours, according to reports.

Squawka are reporting that new United boss José Mourinho expects the deal to bring Pogba back to Old Trafford to be completed before the end of the week, with the player set to meet with his agent Mino Raiola to make his final decision on whether to move back to Manchester.

United have tabled an offer of £85 million plus add ons taking the total fee up to £100 million, which, if accepted, would break the world transfer record, currently held by Gareth Bale's £85.6 million move from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid three years ago.

Real Madrid were interested in taking Pogba to the Bernabéu this summer, but last week the eleven time European champions pulled out of the race to sign the 23-year-old midfielder, feeling that they were unable to compete with United's financial muscle.

Pogba left United as a teenager four years ago, having grown frustrated at the lack of first-team opportunities he was being given.

The Frenchman joined Juventus on a free transfer -- although the Turin club had to pay an £800,000 compensation fee. Pogba has gone on to win the Serie A title in each of his four seasons in Italy, as well as reaching the Champions League final in 2015.

If United pull off this sensational swoop, Pogba will become Mourinho's fourth signing after Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
