Unknown gunmen on Monday evening invaded Gurguzu village, Igabi local government area of Kaduna State, killing four persons and injured six others.

At least 500 people from the village are presently displaced and taking refuge at a primary school in Rigasa.

Meanwhile, Kaduna State government has asked the citizens to remain calm and go about their lawful business as hunt for the attackers continues.

The incident happened at about 6:00pm on Monday, when the gunmen stormed a farm in the village with motorcycle and shot people on the farmland.

It was gathered that the injured victims are currently recovering at an hospital in the area.

Briefing journalists after the state Security Council meeting, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Tijjani Abdullahi said, “At about 17:50, that is 5:50pm yesterday. The gunmen invaded the village on bike and killed a farmer and three other co-farmers. They injured four others and similarly many of the victims, the injured ones were rushed to the hospital.

“Immediately, we deployed our men to the area and calm has returned to the village. Our men are patrolling the whole place. Contrary to what is being circulated on the social media, this was what actually happened.”
