Tottenham Hotspur are sweating over the future of Hugo Lloris after the goalkeeper turned down their offer of a new contract. The France international is contracted to the club until the summer of 2019, but the White Hart Lane outfit are hopeful of tying him down to a more long-term deal to ward off interested suitors.

According to the Mirror, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has initiated contact with the Frenchman and his representatives over a new five-year deal, but it has been rebuffed by the goalkeeper, who is keen on getting his worth and the club will have to offer him a bigger deal, on par with top players across the Europe. The France skipper, who is currently preparing for the Euros in his homeland is a key component of Mauricio Pochettino's squad and the club will be desperate to hold on to him beyond his current deal.

Lloris has been linked with a move away from the north London club in recent seasons, with Manchester United suggested as a potential destination especially during David de Gea's transfer saga involving his move to Real Madrid. The former stopper, however, has been loyal to Tottenham even during seasons when they failed to qualify for the Champions League.

The Mirror reports that Paris Saint-Germain are monitoring his contract stand-off with the club as they are keen to take the France skipper back to his homeland, but it is unlikely he will leave Spurs, who have managed to secure Champions League football after finishing third in the league – their highest in the Premier League.

Tottenham chairman Levy has managed to secure the future of key members of the team like Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Pochettino with new contracts and is hoping that Lloris follows suit. Apart from the goalkeeper, the club are said to be in talks with Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen over new long-term deals.
