A prospective corps member and a graduate from the Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti (EKSU), Miss Olowoyeye Oluwanifesimi D has petitioned the registrar of the West African Examination Council (WAEC), Dr. Uyi Uwadiaye, over alleged alteration of her online WAEC result she obtained in 2008.

Olowoyeye, who studied Geography/Planning Science at the university gave her WAEC number which she sat for in June 2008 as 4140208099 with which she gained admission to study a course of her choice in 2009/2010 having recorded good grades in seven subjects including Geography C4, English Language C6, Yoruba Language C5, Mathematics B3, Agricultural Science D7, Biology C5, Physics B3, Chemistry C4 and Economics C4.

But eight years after, the graduate, who held back her tears while narrating her ordeal to journalists, lamented that the error was discovered when she checked her result online on January 4, this year for the purpose of using it for clearance as part of the conditions for the issuance of her B.Sc certificate and mobilisation for the mandatory NYSC.

According to her, the new result published online by the examination body had her Economics and Chemistry results cancelled, leaving her with only Geography C4, English Language C6, Yoruba Language C5, Mathematics B3, Agricultural Science D7, Biology C5, and Physics B3 to contend with.

Following this discovery, she said she complained to the registrar, WAEC, Yaba, Lagos office through letters by her lawyer dated January 15, 2016 and another letter dated January 18, 2016 written by the Proprietor of her former school, Our Saviour?s Standard College, Efon Alaaye, Ekiti state, where she sat for her WAEC, Mr. Ayotunde R.O.

Part of the letter written by Ayotunde reads, ?I hereby wish to bring to your notice that Olowoyeye Oluwanifemi D (a former student of Our Saviour?s Standard College) sat for WASSCE of May/June 2008 and she passed. Her registration number is 4140208099 and was issued a certificate number NGWASSCS 10327391.

?During her final clearance at EKSU for NYSC mobilisation, the verification of the said result online indicated that Economics and Chemistry are cancelled. I wish you use your good office to help us out and resolve the differences to make necessary correction online.?

The young lady had lamented that her plea and the letters had not received the necessary attention since then.

She added, ?Without the correction from WAEC, I won?t be able to complete my clearance for mobilisation for NYSC for June and won?t be able to collect my certificate in school. Already this has cost me the February mobilisation. I am therefore appealing to the registrar to intervene to save my future. I spent six years for a course, I should have ordinarily spent four years. This is another burden and stress that WAEC is making me to go through due to an error by the examination body.?
