Samsung galaxy S7 to go on sale in 60 countries on March 11

One of the most anticipated Android smartphones for the year, the Galaxy S7 has just been unveiled at MWC 2016. For the first time in many years, Samsung's Galaxy S flagship will go on sale just a few weeks after the official reveal.

The Galaxy S7 will be available for purchase in no less than 60 countries beginning March 11. The handset is already available for pre-order in many of these countries.

In order to boost sales of the Galaxy S7, Samsung is throwing in a free Galaxy Gear VR in select countries. Also, customers who pre-order might receive the smartphone three days earlier than its official release on the market.

All these incentives are meant to attract more customers and increase the Galaxy S7 sales, as Samsung expects the handset to sell better than the Galaxy S6.

The Galaxy S6 was one of the least sold Samsung flagship in the last couple of years, so it might not be too hard for the South Korean company to ship more Galaxy S7 units than its predecessor.

Samsung shipped around 38 million Galaxy S6 units in 2015
According to industry analysts, Samsung shipped around 38 million Galaxy S6 smartphones in 2015. As mentioned earlier, the Galaxy S7 will go on sale in 60 countries on March 11 and Koh Dong-jin, head of Samsung's mobile division said that his company expects its sales to surpass shipments of the previous model, Korean media reports.

Koh also stated that Samsung has tried to include in Galaxy S7 as many features as possible that were discontinued in the previous models. This is probably a reference to microSD and water resistance features that were skipped in the previous model but were part of the Galaxy S5 flagship.

However, the fact that Samsung launched not one, but two flagship smartphones in the first half of the year might split the sales between the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. It remains to be seen if shipments of these smartphones combined will surpass last year sales.
