More than a dozen people were injured after a plane caught fire while on the tarmac at a Florida airport on Thursday afternoon.

The Associated Press noted that Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue spokesman Mike Jachles said the engine of a Boeing 767 jet carrying 110 passengers from the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport caught fire.

All of the passengers were evacuated around 12:30 p.m. and the airport halted operations for hours, but has since reopened.

The injured travelers were transported from the scene to the hospital. USA Today has put the number of those who were hurt at 15. However, their injuries are not said to be life-threatening.

One air traffic controller was said to have warned the pilot that there was a leak from the plane engine just before the fire broke out. The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration will conduct the investigation into the incident.

The Dynamic Airways flight was headed to Simon Bolivar International Airport in Caracas. The airline is based in Greensboro, North Carolina.
