One Elizabeth Okolie, a housewife in Okpanam community, Asaba, Delta State, has been arrested by Police detectives for allegedly selling her baby for N1.5 million.

DAILY POST gathered that the 33-year-old woman, who is a trader in one of the markets in the area, allegedly sold her baby when the purported father refused to accept the paternity.

According to the state Police Commissioner, Alkali Baba Usman who confirmed that his men acted on a tip off , the woman was arrested on her way to Benin City after she had allegedly sold the baby to an unidentified buyer for N1.5m.

Usman said upon interrogation, Elizabeth made useful statements to the police, adding that the police detectives have gone after the buyer of the baby.

According to family sources, Elizabeth who is a secondary school drop-out, escaped with the man she claimed she had been married to and ?took in?.

The CP noted that she was arrested through useful information that the baby she delivered three months ago was sold to an unidentified buyer after a misunderstanding with the man she claimed to be her husband.

?We have made frantic efforts to bring the buyer to book and our men have gone after the buyer while the woman is currently in our custody helping the police with investigation.
