The dreaded Boko Haram sect struck today in Borno state as the insurgents waylaid commercial motorists on a highway in the state, gunning down four persons, kidnapping two and injuring three others.

This information was revealed to The Punch by a member of the youth vigilance group in the state, Ali Ngulde, who added that the incident occurred at a remote village
called Nwajurko, near Sabon Gari in Damboa local government area of the state.

He said, ?Boko Haram, in a highway ambush, killed four persons, abducted two, and injured three others on the Maiduguri-Damboa-Biu highway.?

Confirming the story, a source at Biu General Hospital, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said three persons were brought to the hospital and they were in a critical condition as a result of serious gunshot injuries.

Today?s attack is in contrast with recent reports that suggests the insurgents were seeking peace talks with the federal government, as  disclosed by presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu.

‎Just two days ago, members of the civilian Joint Task Force, arrested eight terrorists in Mussa, Askira-Uba local government area in the state.

Even as the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), has said that about3000 refugees are still at the Nigerian border with Cameroon following insurgents attack in the North Eastern part of Nigeria.
