A police officer's over-zealousness and show of gallantry has caused him his arm as he fell off a commercial bus, when he tried to stop the erring driver who was trying to evade arrest.

According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the bus had been stopped by a team of police officers somewhere in Lagos and while trying to speed off, the police officer jumped on the tail of the vehicle and crawled towards the drivers seat, while trying to shake him off, the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a culvert, throwing the driver off while the bus somersaulted.

As if that was not terrible enough, the police officer had one of his arm cut off for his effort.
