The Apple Watch, which was announced last year along with the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, was made available for pre-order online on Friday. And as is the case with many new Apple products, all the various Apple Watch models sold out quickly, in under 6 hours.
The Apple Watch is available in three different models, each made of a different material.
There is the entry-level Apple Watch Sport, the stainless steel Apple Watch and the top of the range Apple Watch Edition, which is made of gold and retails between a whopping $10 000 and $17 000.
The date that Apple had announced for the first shipments of the Apple Watch was April 24. However, now that all the versions of all the models sold out online, shipping dates have been pushed back as far as July.
New orders placed for any of the 10 different models of the Apple Watch Sport, will now only ship in June again. The same is the case with the stainless steel Apple Watch.
The Apple Watch Edition ? in all its gold and rose gold glory ? is said to now only ship their next batch in July.
The huge influx of online pre-orders shouldn?t come as a surprise, though. Angela Ahrendts, Apple?s Senior Vice President of Retail and Online Sales said in a statement published shortly before the watch went on sale, that customers need to be aware that the ??[sic] demand will exceed [our] supply at launch.?
