Katy Perry to launch mobile game like Kim Kardashian

Celebrities are always looking for more ways to make a ton of money. Whether it?s fragrances, couture or even mobile games and apps ? they can?t resist plastering their face on almost everything.

And now it looks like pop princess Katy Perry is set to follow in the footsteps of another famous celebrity by getting her own mobile game.

Just like reality star Kim Kardashian, Katy will launch her own mobile game that will feature her voice and most likely a character of herself.

According to a press release released yesterday, Katy Perry?s game looks set to have a similar premise to that of the Kim Kardashian: Hollywood game, where players will have to climb a metaphorical ladder and build a career to gain success and reach the top:

??(sic)[the game will] introduce players to a digital playground of global success and talent? a portion of the press release read.

It is also possible that the game will be free to download, but then offer in-app purchases to further advance in the game. It?s a recipe that seems to work, as it was very successful in the Kim Kardashian game.

It should come as no surprise that there will be striking similarities between Katy Perry?s game and Kim Kardashian: Hollywood.  Katy?s game is also being developed by Glu Mobile, the same company who developed Kim Kardashian?s hugely successful game.

The announcement of Katy Perry?s plans to launch a mobile game comes hot off the heels of her Super Bowl half-time performance this past Sunday, which many have labeled as one of the best half-time shows to date.

Interestingly enough, this is not the first time Katy Perry has ventured into gaming. In 2012, she partnered with The Sims 3 and released two expansion packs; ?Katy Perry Showtime Collectors Edition? and a ?Katy Perry Sweet Treats? stuff pack.

If Katy Perry?s mobile game is any bit as successful as Kim Kardashian?s game, she (and the developers) have certainly landed a cash cow.

Kim Kardashian: Hollywood was one of the most successful and top grossing apps of last year. It peaked at number one overall on the App Store and at number four on the top grossing list. The game generated $43 million in revenue in it?s first three months of release and has been downloaded a staggering 22.8 million times.

No official date has been been set for the game that is yet to be named, but the press release states that we can anticipate a launch later this year. The game will also be available on both iOS and Android.

If you?re a Katy Perry fan, then this game will surely sound like a (teenage) dream.
