Atletico Madrid have reportedly rebuffed a bid of around ?17m from Manchester City for defender Jose Gimenez.

The 19-year-old has had a great run with the Basque club in recent weeks following an injury to fellow centre-back Miranda. According to Spanish daily AS, his performances have alerted interest from several top clubs in Europe. The reports adds that the Citizens have had an initial offer worth ?17m rejected by Atleti for the player's signature. City are likely to return next summer with an improved bid for the talented defender.
