An Enugu State High Court, sitting in Enugu has jailed former staff of Fidelity Bank, Kenechukwu Abaroh over N440,000 internet fraud.

Abaroh was until his conviction under prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Enugu zonal office.

EFCC spokesman, Tony Orilade in a statement explained, “Kenechukwu was alleged to have used his experience to activate the Unstructured Supplementary Service Data, USSD code of his victim’s account, using same to transfer N440,000 to the bank account of one Kingsley Umunna, who was also convicted on May 8, for same offence”.

Further, Orilade said the convict had earlier pleaded guilty to the charge when he was arraigned on May 6, prompting Justice Nwaobodo to reserve judgment till today.

Delivering judgment, Justice A.A. Nwaobodo convicted and sentenced Abaroh to three months imprisonment with hard labour.

But his sentence commences from the date of his arrest, which is February 4.
