Manchester United could reportedly offer stiff competition to Real Madrid in the race to sign Christian Eriksen from Tottenham Hotspur during the summer.
The Denmark international has been reluctant to sign a new deal with the north London side and this has spread doubts whether he would remain with the club for the final year of his contract next term.

According to The Mirror, Spurs are presently reluctant to do business with rival European clubs but that stance may change in the coming months, should the Dane continue with the contract standoff.

It is added that United could be prepared to triple the attacker's current £80,000-a-week to lure him to Old Trafford, though they would still require to sort out a transfer fee with Spurs chief Daniel Levy.

Eriksen has enjoyed another productive season with Mauricio Pochettino's side and he has contributed eight goals and 16 assists across all competitions for the London-based outfit.

He is expected to feature for Spurs when they tackle Manchester City in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday night. Tottenham hold a slender 1-0 advantage heading into that game.
