New iPhone 11 Details Leaked

One of the biggest upgrades that Apple is working on for the next-generation iPhone is the rear camera, which according to previous reports, could come in a three-unit setup.

In other words, Apple would upgrade the iPhone from a dual-camera system to a triple-camera configuration. And a new report from Japanese site Macotakara claims this is indeed the plan.

As it turns out, what Apple wants to do is to borrow the camera bump design from the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, so the iPhone camera could feature a rectangular formation. However, it’s believed that only some iPhone models would sport this triple-camera setup, as Apple wants to use the camera as a key differentiator between the existing models.

On the other hand, Macotakara claims that all iPhone models launching in September will come with this triple-camera system, so there’s a chance that Apple would actually install it only on the high-end configurations with more storage.

Triple-camera system on all iPhone models?
This means there’s a chance that the base models, regardless of whether we’re talking about the iPhone XS successor or the new iPhone XS Max, could come with the same dual-camera system as the current models.

In other words, customers who want the new camera system would have to purchase the higher-end models with more storage, which would obviously come with an increased price too.

Apple typically charges some $100 for a storage upgrade, but the price difference between models could increase if the new camera is added as well.

Needless to say, we’re still away from the moment Apple finalizes the design and feature lineup of the new iPhone, but a leak that surfaced earlier this year via @OnLeaks predicted a similar square camera bump too.

It remains to be seen if this is the case, but right now, a healthy dose of skepticism is still recommended when reading such speculation.
