Chelsea step up chase for Serbian striker

Chelsea have reportedly decided to compete with some of Europe's elite clubs in the race to sign Luka Jovic at the end of the campaign.
The Serbian joined Eintracht Frankfurt on a season-long loan from Benfica earlier in the summer and he has since been in sublime form with 14 goals and three assists from just 19 league matches.

His sublime run has already caught the attention of Spanish giants Barcelona but according to Metro, the Blues could have a say in the player's next move in the summer.

It is added that the west London side are aiming to start the bidding battle for the highly-rated Serbian and they could be prepared to offer around £39m for his signature during the summer transfer window.

Chelsea only recently pursued a striker in the form of Gonzalo Higuain but they are still keen on another marksman with Olivier Giroud likely to make way from the club at the end of the season.
