Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce is interested in re-signing former Chelsea captain John Terry, according to the Sun.

Terry had been at the club last season when they almost got promotion to the Premier League before losing to Fulham in the playoffs.

Villa are currently having a troubled Championship season having slipped to 12th on the table after a good start.

Bruce is looking to bring in the veteran defender to save their season from collapse.

Terry was an important member of Villa's Championship campaign last season, making an impressive 35 appearances.

Aston Villa are eager to get back to the Premier League and see Terry as the man to help them boost their back line in the very competitive Championship.

Bruce's men have failed to win any of their last four Championship games, slipping to a 4-1 defeat in their last encounter against Sheffield United.

Terry is currently a free agent and could be signed despite the transfer window being closed.
