Arsenal signed Bernd Leno

Arsenal have confirmed the arrival of Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen for a reported fee of around £22m.

The German becomes the Gunners' second signing of the transfer window following the Bosman agreement to sign Stephan Lichtsteiner.

"It feels very good. I’m happy, I’m proud to sign for Arsenal. For me it’s a dream to play for Arsenal," he is quoted as saying by the club's official website.

Leno's arrival is likely to place question marks over the positions of Petr Cech and David Ospina and the latter appears more likely to part ways with the club.

Ospina has generally played second fiddle to Cech over the past three campaigns but the Colombian is expected to push for an exit following his return from the summer World Cup.

Aside from Leno, the north Londoners are also close to announcing the signing of Borussia Dortmund's Sokratis whilst a deal for Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria is similarly nearing its completion.

New Gunners boss Unai Emery is said to have been offered a pre-sales budget of just £50m for the summer and the next few weeks may witness the exit of several fringe players including Lucas Perez and Joel Campbell.
