Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 9 is believed to be the model finally getting a fingerprint sensor integrated into the display, and a leak that’s making the rounds today claims this is exactly what the South Korean firm plans to do.

The photos published by a website called Samrena.ir claim to show the Note 9 as compared to the S9, revealing the obviously increased dimensions, as well as what the source says it is a new position for the fingerprint sensor.

In fact, the fingerprint reader is nowhere to be seen, and this means that Samsung has finally managed to integrate it into the display. While this wouldn’t be surprising at all given how many rumors claimed the Galaxy Note 9 would be the first model to come with a fingerprint sensor embedded into the glass, it looks like the photos are nothing more than fake.

No fingerprint sensor in the screen, analysts say
As SamMobile discovered, those pictures are actually based on Galaxy S9 hands-on videos, and by no means they show the Note 9, though at first glance, they do seem legitimate.

In other words, while there’s a chance that the Note 9 could indeed come with a fingerprint sensor integrated into the screen, these photos do not show the device, and it’d be just a coincidence if the South Korean firm decides to go in this direction.

As for the actual Galaxy Note 9, it’s believed Samsung could bring it to the market earlier than originally planned because the company isn’t entirely pleased with how the Galaxy S9 is selling right now.

Analysts with a good track on mobile scoops said there’s little chance the device would get a fingerprint sensor embedded into the screen, as the technology isn’t yet ready for mass production and Samsung would instead stick with a reader on the back of the phone.
