Arsenal's Jack Wilshere Reject new contract in the summer

England international Jack Wilshere reportedly snubbed the opportunity to sign a new Arsenal contract in the summer. The 25-year-old is evaluating his options with a view to a free transfer at the end of the season.
Wilshere currently has just nine months left on his contract, and according to The Sun, the midfielder is said to want a permanent change next summer.

Earlier this week, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger revealed Wilshere could sign a new extension based on his fitness levels, but a source close to the player has suggested that the Englishman could leave the Emirates.

"Arsenal didn't want to loan him out again unless he signed a new contract — but he didn't want to sign one," an unnamed source told The Sun. "If Jack gets back into the Arsenal team on a regular basis and feels he is seriously part of the club's plans, there is still a chance he might stay.

"However, as things stand, he is still of the view that he will be leaving at the end of the season. But he will be giving it his all for the club and will remain professional."

Wilshere has suffered a series of injuries over the years, and he is currently on the fringes of the Gunners first-team, although he put in a strong performance in the 1-0 League Cup win over Doncaster Rovers.

The Stevenage-born lad could make the matchday squad for the West Brom game later tonight, but he is unlikely to get the nod over Aaron Ramsey and Granit Xhaka at the centre of the park.
