Microsoft's Retiring Office 2007 Later This Year

2017 is quite a big year for Microsoft customers, as the company is discontinuing several products, including the operating-system-that-nobody-uses Windows Vista.

As we’ve told you already, Windows Vista is set to be retired next month, with the last updates to be released on April 11 when the company “celebrates” the next Patch Tuesday. Windows Vista will thus become an unsupported product and all users who continue running it on their systems will be exposed to attacks due to vulnerabilities that will no longer be patched.

But in addition to Windows Vista, Microsoft is also projected to retire another widely-used piece of software: the Office 2007 productivity suite.

As Myce noted, Office 2007 support comes to an end on October 10, 2017, along with a series of other products, including Dynamics GP 10 and SL 7, Sharepoint Server 2007, Office Visio 2007, and Virtual PC 2007.

“There will be no new security updates, non-security updates, free or paid assisted support options or online technical content updates,” Microsoft explains.
