Mark Zuckerberg and wife Priscilla Chan announced they are expecting another daughter this year.

This will be the couple's second child, joining Max, their first daughter, born in late 2015.

The Facebook boss explained in a Facebook post that the news about their new child came a bit as a surprise, especially since they had troubles having Max, troubles that Zuckerberg has spoken about in the past. He says they weren't even sure they'd be able to have another child.

"When Priscilla and I first found out she was pregnant again, our first hope was that the child would be healthy. My next hope was that it would be a girl. I cannot think of a greater gift than having a sister and I'm so happy Max and our new child will have each other," he said.

Mark Zuckerberg goes on to explain something about his past, how he grew up with three sisters, three smart and strong women who were also some of his best friends. "They've gone on to write books, excel at performance, music, sports, cooking and their careers," he adds.

Similarly, Priscilla grew up with two sisters, so it's understandable why Zuckerberg would want their second child to also be a girl.

As the announcement comes a day after the International Women's Day, the Facebook chief went on to say that we are all better people because of the strong women in our lives - sisters, mothers, and friends.

Busy lives
Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan have been quite busy lately as their foundation, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative has been working more and more towards the goal of eradicating all diseases in the world. They've pledged $3 billion over the next few years to fund this effort.

"We want to dramatically improve every life in Max's generation and make sure we don't miss a single soul. We'll be investing in basic science research with te goal of curing disease," Dr. Chan said at the time.
