An angry husband decided to punish his wife for no obvious reason, by pouring hot water on her private part.

Catherine Wakere’s husband poured hot water on her just because he was provokedThe victim identified as 30-year-old mother of two Catherine Wakere, of Kianamu village in Embu County in Kenya, was hospitalized after her husband attacked her with hot water.

The woman’s husband, 36-year-old Charles Njizu had attacked her without any provocation on her part, and threw very hot water on her thighs and private part and also broke two of her fingers.

Wakere said:

“He just scooped water that was boiling and splashed it on my thighs. He had aimed at my private parts, which were partly scalded.”

According to the nursing officer Secinta Nyaga, of the hospital where she was rushed to about two weeks after her attack, the wound is taking longer to heal. She said:

“Hers is a case of gender violence, which we reported to the police before treating her. The wound was in a very bad state since it appeared to have stayed for two weeks without being treated. If it was a fresh would it would have healed. She is now in a stable condition.”


Catherine’s husband has been arrested for scalding her with hot water

The victim’s two children are currently being taken care of at the children’s department in Embu, while her mother Daisy Muthoni takes care of her at the hospital.

Mbeere North Assistant County Commissioner, Benjamin Birech, said Njuzi has been arrested and will be charged to court once Wakere approves. He said:

“We will charge him with causing grievous harm. She says that the man beats her regularly. He is reported to be a habitual user of bhang and miraa (hard drugs).”
